Baby smiles can be tricky and we may not always catch one. I have been photographing babies for many years. Since 2007 when I opened my studio I didn't know right off the bat that I would want to photograph newborns, but when I did, I just knew it was one of those types of session I wanted to specialize in. I love photographing many things and many different types of sessions. High school seniors are my 2nd favorite! Newborns just hold a special place in my heart. I have had some ask me how do you catch that smile. Well sometimes it is just luck, others it is watching for the cues and waiting. Lots of patience as well. Babies take a lot of work at times. You know that deep sleep where their eyes start to flutter, ya watch and you will get a smile. Sometimes if you touch or rub their forehead and down along their cheek they will smile too. I have sat and watched a baby for many minutes waiting and watching for those cues, rubbing their forehead. I do love when I can catch a baby smiling! Just melts the heart and brings a smile to your face! The last couple weeks I have had many babies in the studio and a lot of them have smiles during their sessions. Some have not. Babies run the show and you just never know. Here are a few of the ones I can share from the last couple weeks. The baby with the Biggest smile is from a couple years ago that I added to the end of these photos. The baby on the pillow. He happened to open his eyes and give the biggest smile ever! That is one of my favorite photos of a baby smiling.
